$8000 Tax Credit

TAX CREDIT EXTENDED & EXPANDED                       11/13/09

Congress has extended and expanded the homebuyer tax credit.   The $8000 tax credit has been extended to First-time home buyers who purchase homes between the date President Obama signs the bill and April 30th 2010.  To qualify as a first time buyer the purchaser or his/her spouse may not have owned a residence during the last 3 years.

Current Home Owners purchasing a home between the time the bill is signed and April 30th 2010 are eligible for a $6500 tax credit as long as you have used the home being sold or vacated as a principal residence for 5 consecutive years with in the last 8 years.

There are income limitations and always seek advice from a professional tax advisor for specific tax calculations and timing for claiming tax credit.
